September 25, 2008…Homeschool reading fair

Today was the LCHE (Sims Group) Homeschool reading fair.  There were around 30 kids who participated, and there were some really GREAT story boards….and guess what…Lauren won a 1st place ribbon for her age group!  We are SO proud of her!  (By the way, if you’ve never read The Hundred Dresses by Eleanor Estes, it’s a must-read for girls or boys of any age.  This Newberry Honor Book recipient is a story about the hurt inflicted by teasing and the painful consequences for bystanders who fail to act courageously on behalf of the one being teased.)

Where did you get the dresses For the board?

I just free-handed one for her to use as a stencil, then she cut the rest out of construction paper and decorated them.

aprox. how big are the dresses on the board? Would it possible to mail me a copy of a sketch you did?
